Hello
The scope of mechanical engineering in India is good.
Regarding the employment in our country, the following are some of the many companies which are offering jobs:
1) ABB group,
2) BHEL,
3) Birla group,
4) Bosch group,
5) BPCL,
6) Caterpiller,
7) Ford group,
8) HPCL,
9) HLL group,
10) Hyundai group,
11) IOCL,
12) Kirloskar group,
13) L&T group,
14) Mahendra & Mahendra group,
15) NTPC,
16) Power grid,
17) Reliance groups,
18) Tata group,
19) TVS group, etc.
With regards to the future of Mechanical Engineering stream in India, in terms of employment - the sky is the limit. My sincere advice would be not to directly think of joining well-established companies(because it is very difficult, many times, to get the direct placement). With some experience in small or medium industries, things are going to be very smooth(do not worry much about your initial salary). Treat that as a 'training period", and "investment".
B.Tech/B.Arch Admissions OPEN
Hello Sankalan,
Even i am perusing mechanical engineering form VELLORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY and i think i can explain you this better. So you have wide options after perusing btech in mechanical engineering as you might land up in public or private sectors and even you can do MBA after that. So in private you are always welcome for companies like TATA, MAHINDRA, TVS, ESCORT, L&T, MARUTI, HONDA, ROYAL ENFIELD etc, but that depends upon you capabilities and you try for ARMED FORCES in public sector.
I hope you will find my answer helpful.
All the best.

Hey Aspirant,
Mechanical Engineering has been popular branche from a way back time. But currently due to lesser placements the branch has been suffering. Its not about lesser jobs but it's about huge no. Of applicants. Still if you perform well you can get government jobs through Qualifying GATE.
Best of luck
Dear candidate,
This branch of engineering is one of the old and 'in demand' branch. Therefore the demand and scope both is vast. Mechanical engineers have to deal with concepts like mechanics, robotics, kinematics, fluid mechanics and more. Also it is involved in development of engines, power plant equipments, heating and cooling etc.
Therefore the scope is good and wide options are available. An average package can vary from 15-20K per month in the beginning.
Hope I answer your question and it's helpful.
All the best!
Dear aspirant,
Mechanical engineering is the mother of engineering. Companies like Indian oil, BHEL,HPCL all recruit mechanical engineers over production engineering. Also mechanical engineers are aware of all the different subjects that usually production or manufacturing engineering have upto a certain extent as a result they are flexible for any post.
Also mechanical engineering is constanly expanding and it's demand will never end as this is where engineering originated.
