The JEE Mains eligibility criteria has been relaxed as of 2020. To answer your question, you can attempt the entrance exam for 3 consecutive years. Since the exam will be conducted twice a year, you may appear in both the attempts. The attempt for an academic year will be considered as one. Therefore, the total no. of attempts in JEE Main for one candidate is six.

Hello Aspirant ,
National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main twice a year, January and April. You are allowed to appear for the exam for three consecutive years, a total of six attempts are allowed. There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main 2020 examination. Candidates who have cleared their Class 12 or equivalent exam in 2018 and 2019 are eligible to take this exam.
