See when you do finish the offline procedure of paying fees and getting docs verified and are going to prep the list for the colleges you want, start from the best college that is out there to offer. Then slowly move down. See there's no harm in trying for a better college who knows you may get it. You can choose any number of colleges but the one who's cutoff you'd have cleared, only that will be given to you.

The counseling process will be in offline mode so you have to go to the centre and pay counseling fee of Rs.500 and then choose the preferred college and course. The allocation of seat will be on merit list.

In any choice filling for the colleges for any of the counselling processes, there is usually no limit to number of choices you can fill.
So, dont count the number of colleges you are filling, but yes there is an advice that you should go only for the colleges that have chances for you to get admissions into.
