Economically Weaker Section (EWS) is the section of the society in India that belongs to the un-reserved category and has an annual family income of less than 8 lakh rupees. This category includes people that do not belong to the caste categories of ST/SC/OBC who already enjoy the benefits of reservation. EWS will have 10% reservation in NEET.
There are around 6400 seats in MBBS in medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh and around 2200 seats for BDS in Uttar Pradesh. 10% for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category in the All-India Quota (AIQ) seats for admission in the NEET for all medical seats as existing criteria in UP.
So around 640 seats were reserved for EWS category in UP and also a total of 291 seats are added under EWS category in Uttar Pradesh according to latest reports. This numbers may change in accordance to various latest stats and figures.
