The fees of IIT And NIT are depends on every individual because for ST/SC/PH STUDENT around Zero fees.

After that for Most Economically backward students

(Income Below 1 Lac) also Tuition Fee per Semester Zero.

Other Economically backward students

(Income 1 Lac to 5 Lac)

Around 25,000/- to 50000/-

For above income 5 lakhs -

60,000- 80000/- per semester.

Apart from the main tuition fee the  total fee in IITs will include expenses like annual insurance,caution money, mess charges, hotel fees, gymkhana etc .Generally in all IITs per semester fee for B.Tech program would range between 1-1.5 lakhs . Along with this when you add hostel fee of 15-20K , the overall total may range between 8-10 lakhs. Note that this will vary a little  based on the IIT branch. Likewise, for NIT the B.Tech tuition fee per semester will be around 60-70K and the hostel fee for the first year will be an additional 30K approx. Note that the tuition fee amount will vary based on the category of the candidate. The above mentioned fee is for general category students.
