Hello,

Hope you are doing well,

Most marine biologists work regular hours in a laboratory, nine to 10 hours a day, 40 to 50 hours a week. They use electron microscopes, computers and other specialized equipment to study specimens. Many marine biologists also do fieldwork.

When in the field, days are usually longer. Typically 10–12 hours per day, 6–7 days per week, depending on the work.

Time on research ships is very precious, and very expensive, so those are typically the longest shifts. Working at sea, 12 hours is typically the absolute minimum, and in many cases it’s 14–16 hours per day. On one research trip, due to staffing shortages and technical difficulties, averaged 16–18 hours per day, 7 days per week, for 2.5 weeks

Hope this information helped you

Thank you
