it's always the quality of time you spen.it depends on ur problem solving skills and ur talent.so whatever makes you comfortable go with it.
never take too much stress by continuous study hours .but choose right material and right source of info make best test books and model questions ur way of practice to crack.work on time management which helps in neck moment time at jee advance AND mains as the its the major role in these comepititive exams

Actually study is not dependent on the time, generally it depends upon you how much time is suitable for your study that means if you are concentrating on any topic and you don't even know the time that is the actual study, that is a productive study, that is a goal oriented study, so I would suggest you to give at least your 4 hour and rest is dependent upon your focus and dedication.
