Hi Dishan!
Vit offering two types of mechanical engineering i.e, Mechanical (Spec. in Automotive Engineering) and Mechanical (Spec. in Energy Engineering). The cutoff for these both branches vary from year to year as decided by college that based on number of students appearing on that particular year. As per analysis the cutoff for Mechanical (Spec. in Automotive Engineering) is 20,000 and for Mechanical (Spec. in Energy Engineering) is 25,000.
Hope this helps.
All the Best!
Hello Dishan,
VIT-Vellore Institute of Technology, has 4 branches in Vellore, Chennai, Amravati, and Bhopal. VIT conducts a general entrance exam just like JEE but far easier than JEE Main. https://engineering.careers360.com/exams/viteee . Based on your ranking in this exam known as VITEEE, a common rank list is generated. VIT being a private institute has no quota for any caste or state. Now based on your rank in VITEEE, you are allowed to choose a branch of your choice in any of the 4 campuses. For getting Mechanical in the main campus, i.e. VELLORE, your rank should be definitely under 20k and around 16k for getting Mechanical under normal fee structure. Having a higher rank but wanting a more preferrable seat in preffered campus will cause you to pay more fees.
For getting Mechanical branch in Chennai Campus, your rank should be near around 30k.
VIT does not discose the marks obtained by students as well as the e-OMR and the question therefore it is hard to predict the score. Out of 125 questions, you should have around 60 correct.
Hope this helps
Regards.
