Hello aspirant
Admission on the basis of jee main is given depending upon percentile. Percentile is considered in jee main exams. Qualifying percentile for general category is percentile of 90+. For EWS it is around 72+percentile. Also it depends upon cut off. Cut off changes every year hence it is difficult to predict cut offs for 2021. Talking about CSE branch and top NIT like surathkal, Rourkela this combination of top NIT and CSE require top score. Hence score of 290/300. Or percentile 97 or 98 will be safer .
If you are determined to get cse branch in top nit, then you must secure a rank under 500 in jee mains ( let's assume from general category), then you have to work very hard. And you must score at least above 80% aggregate of total marks.
So, that means if you want to secure a rank of under 500 from general category and grab cse branch in nit rourkela or other top nits, then your percentile score must be greater than 99.95, and for that you have to score at least above 240 marks in jee mains.
