If you want admission in top 5 NIT s than you must secure a rank under 5-6 thousand so that you have many options ( college and branch).
So you should score minimum 230 marks .
But not fixed because statistics can be changed and this year you will get 2 chance so better to prepare well and

Hey aspirant,
It's quite good to know that you are thinking to have a seat at the top NITs.
Having a seat at the top NITs will need you a good rank in the JEE.
Now come to the main point, as you know this year the JEE will be conducted by NTA(National Testing Agency) rather than CBSE. So, it couldn't be predict about the difficulty level as well as cutoff of the Colleges before the exam.
So, I will suggest you to keep calm and don't think about the marks which you will gain in the exam just appear in the exam smartly.

The cutoffs vary every year depending upon various factors like number of students appearing for the exam, difficulty of paper set, etc.
To get admission in top NITs (National Institute of Technology) across India and to get branch of your choice you must score 260+ on 360. (for general category) (ESTIMATION).
Score as high as you can to get course and college of your choice.

Hello,
You need to score at least more than 280+ marks for top NITs and that minimum,cutoffs sometimes go insanely high so i would suggest you to give your best.
