Hello,
The rank that you need to obtain depends on the branch and the institute since the cut off rank varies for each branch. For example the cut off rank for admission in to Indian Institute of Technology Bombay for Civil Engineering was 684 for EWS category. And for Computer Science and Engineering it was 18. the cut off rank for admission in to Indian Institute of Technology Delhi for Mechanical Engineering was 320 for EWS category and for Electrical Engineering was 440 for the same category. As you can see that the cut off was was different for each branch and Institute. So it is difficult to predict the exact cut off rank. But by analyzing the previous year cut off you need to secure rank below 1000 to get seat in any of the above mentioned institutes. Cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of exam and number of seats available etc. The admission in to IITs is under All India Quota.
