Inorder to get into into NIT'S via JEE Mains you need to score atleast 180+ depending upon your category and if you want to enter in IIT then just clear the cuttoff marks in Mains and focus more on Advance prepration.

for admission in any of the IIT's or NIT's you need to score at least a score above than 200 and rank should be 25000+ or below it for general category and if you belong to any category other than general then the chances are more on a low score.like more than 150.

Generally JEE MAINS PAPER 2 is easy to score but to get into IIT or NIT you must secure a rank above 10k or marks in the range of 250 and above
See, JEE MAIN PAPER 2 is to get B.Arch in NIT's and SPA's.
I would suggest you to get at least 240+ in JEE MAIN PAPER 2 to get into NIT's and SPA's.
To get Architecture in IIT's, you need to Qualify JEE MAIN PAPER 1, JEE ADVANCED and then further the ARCHITECTURE APTITUDE TEST.
