I strongly believe that if you focus more on your self learning you'll get good placements. Company do look at marks but it really care for how good are you at your professional level.

This is not disclosed by the University. However the seat depends upon the popularity of the branch for eg Computer Science will be allotted to the top rankers. However the exam is not very tough so if your prepare well you should be able to crack it.
