Qualifying the Jee Advance exam is not enough to get a seat in the IITs. This is because of the limited number of seats in the prestigious institutions. Every year around 10-11k seats are available in the IITs. But the number of qualifying candidates is much more. In 2018, it was 31,980.
This is why you not only need to qualify Jee Advance, but also score good in it.
The minimum number of marks required too get a seat in IIT also varies by a significant margin every year due to the unpredictability of Jee Advance.
Last year, the rank of 10.5k was around 125 marks. But the year before that, it was around 180. In 2016, it was around 109.

The IITs prepared nine rank lists caste and reservation wise including general, OBC, SC, ST, PWD category.Last year, a general category student was required to score a minimum of 75 marks of 372 to get a rank. It was 67 marks for OBC applicants and 38 for SC/ ST category candidates.

JEE Advanced is one of the most toughest exam in India, and to get into any of the IITs you need to score good in the exam.
For general category student, you need a minimum of 180 marks to get into any branch of the lower ranked IITs, whereas a minimum of 200 marks is required to make it in good IIT.
For an OBC student, a score of 150 is enough to get into IIT.
