how many questions have to attempt in each section to get 95% in CAT 2019 ?
Dear Aspirant,
The answer to this completely depends upon the difficulty of the exam. If the exam is tough then attempting around 15 questions in Verbal, and 10 questions in LRDI and around 12 questions in QA will get you 95 percentile. While on the other hand if the paper was easy, this shifts to around 18 questions in VA, 12 questions in LRDI and 15-18 questions in QA will get you a 95 percentile.
Hope this helps. Thank you.
CAT is an online examination of 3 hours duration. The questions in the exam will be of MCQ and TITA type totaling 100 questions. MCQ are multiple choice questions, for which candidates get multiple answer choices. Each Question has 3 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark. However Type in the Answer questions are exempted from Negative Marking.
CAT exam paper can be Categorised into 3 parts:
- Quantitative Ability
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
The Verbal Ability section and Reading Comprehension has 34 Questions, Data interpretation-Logical Reasoning section has 32 MCQ questions and Quantitative Ability has 34 MCQ questions totaling up to 100 questions. Each Question has 3 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark. Now scoring 95 percentile means you do better than 95 percent of the Candidates who appeared for CAT. And we cannot predict the no.of questions you need to attempt because we do not know how many Candidates have registered for CAT until the exam is over. But to be on a safer saide, you can afford to miss 5 questions overall. That is the maximum.
