Hey Esha,

There are a total of 412 medical colleges in India. Out of 412 colleges, 190 are government colleges and 222 are private medical colleges. Accordingly, total number of seats are 52715 out of which 26835 seats are private seats and total number of government seats in NEET 2018 is 25880.

Assuming 50% seats to be in general category (actually, in some state this varies and maybe a little less or little more), you get 12,900 seats for the general category.

Hope this helps you!!!
