There are total 23 IITs in India. Admission to which are conducted through JOSSA counselling.
According to the 2020 seat matrix there are total 16053 seats in IITs.

Hello there,
There are a total of 23 IITs. The seats varies with each IIT. The oldest ones having seat range of approx 700-1050 and the new ones having seat range from approx 100 to 400 seats.
Moreover, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will release the seat matrix of IIT in conjunction with the 23 Indian Institute of Technology soon.
The breakdown of the seat matrix will be done as per the categories - General, OBC, SC, ST and EWS.
