Acetylene or ethyne is the compound with the chemical formula C2H2. It is the hydro carbon with simplest alkyne group.

The carbon atom has sp hybridization. The two carbon atoms form a single sigma bond between themselves while the two carbons make one one sigma bond with the other two hydrogen atoms.

Therefore there are a total of 3 sigma bonds.
