It is quite hard to predict the total number of students appeared for NTSE stage-1 in Kerala because no official notification has been issued regarding the same by the competent authorities but the figure is expected to be around 16000-17000.

For your reference, NTSE Kerala expected cut-off for 2021 :-

So if you belongs to General category then you need at least 145-155 marks out of 200 in stage -1 to get qualified for stage 2 but still we have to wait because the cut-off mentioned above is only the expected cut-off.

Cut off depends upon various factors such as the difficulty level of stage 1 exam, Kerala State quota, number of students appeared in the stage 1 exam, last year's NTSE Kerala cutoff and so on.
