Harcourt Butler Technical University is a state technical university in Kanpur, Utter Pradesh. The institute has a national ranking of "52" . Students get admitted to the institute on the merit of their JEE(Main) rank. The rank goes up to and even a thousand beyond 27921 in the round 1 level of counselling. As long as the computer science stream is concerned then for the year 2018 the opening rank for CS branch was 5968 and the closing rank for the same was 13042.

The coding culture at the institute is very moderate. It is not at par with the NITs and IITs for the matter. One has to work hard more and put in extra efforts to improve his/her programming and logical skills. If you are really passionate about coding then HBTU might not be right place if you are getting a better ranked college with your JEE rank. As long as the placements are concerned HBTU gets decent placement.

The tutuion fee for B.tech is about INR 70,000 and the total fees is about INR 98,300 exculding the hostel fees.
