I don't know whether how many will really prepare for JEE.
But I am thinking that 70 percent of the students will try to do their level best. 50 percent of the people work hard for it. 50 percent of the students who are appearing for JEE will definitely have a goal. But with that goal you need some luck also.
you know JEE Main exam is one of the toughest exam. so by seeing the vast syllabus some people drop in the middle it self. for getting the good marks in JEE, it is not that much easy. Its only possible when you work hard.

this is a nice question as lakhs of students appear for JEE every year. around 11-12 lakhs every year. Here is the reality -
- Many students take both biology and maths. Hence they appear for both NEET and JEE exams.
- So most of the students give JEE as they chose mathematics.
- Many give the exam not to score good marks but to see their knowledge
- Remains some 1 to 2lakh students actually prepare for JEE. In these, some may be general category while others OBC/ SC/ ST students.
- These remaining people work hard, go to coachings and vigourously prepare for the examination.
