Candidates can make maximum six attempts for JEE Main in three consecutive years (Each year two attempts - January and April)
And For JEE Advanced you have two attempts in two consecutive years.

You can appear for JEE mains 2 times in a year i.e., one in January time and another in April time.
You can appear for JEE mains 3 years consecutively . So your total chances is 6 times in 3 consecutive years.
If you will succeed in your JEE mains exam , then only two 2 times you can appear for JEE advanced.

After completion if your class 12th you can appear for 6 times in JEE mains.
NTA conducts JEE mains twice every year and all candidates are given with chance to appear in either one or both of the JEE mains based on their choice and interest.The best performance of either one of the exam will be considered your final marks.
So, basically you will get 3 year and 2 attempts every year.
