You can apply for JEE mains examination in 3 consecutive year and now NTA will conduct JEE Main 2 times in a year from 2019( one in january and one in april) onwards which gives you an option to give jee mains examination 6 times.
But do remember that on can attempt JEE Advanced exam for maximum two times in consecutive years.

• One can appear in jee mains for three consecutive year from the year he / she appears in the board exam , now jee mains is conducted twice in a year so one can appear 6 times in jee mains.

.

• For example, if you are appearing for your 12th board examination in 2020 , then you are eligible for both January and april session of Jee mains for the year 2020, 2021 and 2022 .

• If I tell you about jee mains 2020 then to be eligible you should  have passed class 12th/equivalent examination in 2018, 2019 or you should be appearing for 12th board examination in 2020.
