Short Answer:

  • To become a CA after 12th , it will take around 5 years.
  • To become a CA after graduation, you'll need a minimum of 4.5 years.

Detailed Answer:

There are 2 ways to become a CA, by Foundation route or Direct Entry Route.

Through Foundation route:

  1. Register for the Foundation exams and complete the study period of 4 months. ICAI will release the result after 2 months of the exams. So, total CA Foundation course duration - 6 months.
  2. Then, register for the CA Intermediate exams, and undergo the study period of 8 months. Again, ICAI will declare the result after 2 months. So, CA Inter Course duration - 10 months.
  3. After clearing a CA inter group, you need to register for the CA articleship training that is of 3 years.
  4. Then, a 6 months study period for the CA Final exams. After clearing the CA Final, you'll get the result in 2 months. So, CA Final course duration - 8 months.

Hence, if we total the number of months, it will be 60 months Therefore, the total CA Course duration (https://www.vsijaipur.com/ca-course-duration/) is 5 years.

However, in the direct entry scheme, you don't have to give the Foundation exams, that will save your 6 months.

Most importantly, you need to clear all the three levels in the single attempt, otherwise, each added attempt will increase 6 months to your CA journey.

•Candidates first need to be appeared in CPT and then enroll for the ATC . Candidates are eligible for it after 10+2.

•After clearing foundation or the entrance , candidates can register directly for ATC .

•Candidates who have applied for course II prior to this can  also registered for ATC .

Hi

To become a CA you need to go through given 4 levels, listed below :-

1) CA Foundation
2 ) CA Intermediate
3) Articleship Training
4 )CA Final

You can start for ca, after your 12th/equivalent with level 1 i.e ca Foundation, recently changes has been made in the eligibility for CA foundation and now class 10th pass students can also register for CA Foundation but that will be provisional and it will be regularised after they pass 12th/equivalent , while graduates ( commerce graduates with at least 55%  and non commerce graduate with at least 60% in their graduation ) don't have to go through CA Foundation, they can start directly start from level 2 i. e CA Intermediate

Now, the duration of becoming CA depends upon how much time you spend in clearing each level, if you clear each level after the other then the minimum duration is:

Around 5 years , for those who start after class 12th through CA Foundation course

Around 4 years , for those who start after graduation through direct entry into  Intermediate course .
