How many years of college is needed to be a surgeon?
You have to attend minimum around 6years of college to become surgeon after 10+2
- Firstly you have to undergo your undergraduate medical course that is bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery.It's takes around five and half years it complete your course.
- After this you can join hospitals as surgeon or pursue higher education.

It takes around 6 years for a 17–18 year student who has finished intermediate / + 2 to complete MBBS if everything goes right.
Once you finish MBBS, you need to appear for a competitive exam in the form of NEET-PG / AIIMS / PGI etc to secure a seat in the General Surgery residency / postgraduate program.
It takes 3 years to finish this course.
Once you are through, most surgeons straight after MS choose to work for a year or two as Senior Resident, a job which involves a surgeon to act as a bridge between the trainee residents and the faculty.
