Dear Aspirant, surgeons are the most reputed and experienced doctors to rely on as they indulge in operations which are critical at time. Being a surgeon is a lengthy process, it involves four years of undergraduate school, four years of medical school and 3-10 years of residency and fellowship training. Surgeons also continue the education process throughout their careers in order to maintain licensure and stay informed of medical advances.
Hope this was helpful to you.
All the best.
Hello Medico,
It takes around 6 years for a 17–18 year student who has finished intermediate / + 2 to complete MBBS if everything goes right.
Once you finish MBBS, you need to appear for a competitive exam in the form of NEET-PG / AIIMS / PGI etc to secure a seat in the General Surgery residency / postgraduate program.
It takes 3 years to finish this course.
Once you are through, most surgeons straight after MS choose to work for a year or two as Senior Resident, a job which involves a surgeon to act as a bridge between the trainee residents and the faculty.
All The Best.
