Greetings.
The cutoff marks for general category candidates in JEE Main is around 100 marks. But last year it was lowered down to 81 marks.
Thank you. All the best.
You need to score above a certain cutoff in order to be eligible for JEE Advanced. This differs every year and is dependent on several factors including difficulty of paper, quality of the batch, number of students and also your category.
You may consider this to be the pass marks for JEE Main.
Dear Farhan,
Thankyou for contacting careers360,I would be glad to help you out.As far as qualifying marks or cutoff is concerned in jEEmains it has been varying continously since the very perception of the exam,Anyways you can expect a cutoff of 100 or so for general category students,in any case it will be lower than 100 mostly. i will share with you the cutoffs of general category students from the year 2014.
- 2014:115 marks
- 2015:105 marks
- 2016:100 marks
- 2017:81 marks
From the above trend you may observe that the cutoff is continously decreasing year by year. But it all depends on the difficulty of the paper and number of students they are searching out for giving JEE advanced.suppose in the year 2014,2015 only top 1,50,000 students of JEEmain were allowed to write JEE advanced wheras in the year 2016 they took top 2,00,000 students.Wishing you a good luck.
