How much marks I can score in BITSAT by just reading ncert only?? I have 2 months left

I will try to answer the question for general competitive engineering entrance exams as the prep method is the same irrespective of the exam.Please note that I am not talking about the board exam preparation(but you should do them as their marks are being considered in getting final ranks)

Viewing other answers, I believe you most likely have found helpful books to study from. So, I will try to talk about possible study strategy that you may want to use. But disclaimer, I am not an expert and I didn’t secured very great rank in jee (but did pretty good in other exams) so if you feel this strategy is not optimal for you then you should try a different one.

0. Don’t freak out. Freaking out doesn’t help at all. You still have time to prepare good enough if you utilize the available time efficiently.

1.make a daily routine for study and follow it strictly.Although people say you should study 12+ hrs for 2 years to get good ranks in all competitive exams,it is not true but in the last 4-5 months, you actually need to spend that much amount. There is no other way around that. I would suggest you to make 4 three hr sessions with sufficient gaps in between them. In my case,since I didn’t wake up early, so I had divided the sessions like following but you can choose the timings as per your liking:

1st : 8.30–11.30

2nd: 2–5

3rd: 6–9

4th : 10–1

Try to adhere to your routine as much as possible.Out of these 4 sessions, dedicate 1 session per subject and the 4th session can act as a buffer or you can use that session for revision of all the subjects/solving question papers(in last month )

2.Chemistry is the most scoring subject and out of 3 hrs available,you can finish chemistry within 30–35 mins and save those 25–30 crucial minutes which you desperately need for physics and maths.And can change your rank by several thousands if prepared well.

But to score good in Chemistry, you need to remember a lot of organic and inorganic chemistry. Although you can remember most of them logically, most of the inorganic and organic chemistry reactions need to be remembered. Different people have different methods to remember things,use the one which suits you. In the 3 hr session for chemistry,you can take 1 chapter and finish it completely and in the buffer session, revise everything you learnt so far (during the day and also materials learnt during previous days). For physical chemistry I think you should start with ncert and then look into other books.But since physical chemistry is more of logic, it is comparatively easy to master.

3. For physics, I suggest you should start with mechanics.I would definitely suggest Vector Mechanics for Engineers: Statics and Dynamics .My elder brother had suggested this book and I found it really helpful to understand mechanics. For other parts, you can start with HC Verma and for practicing numericals, use books like Arihant (don’t know the current popular books but all are almost similar).

4. For Maths, although I was involved in Maths Olympiad, so my method of preparation will not be useful to you. But I can say that maths problems in the entrance exams unlike Olympiad need speed and accuracy so try to practice as much problems as you can to improve your speed and accuracy.

5. After completing the syllabus, go for next round of revision. Then the 3rd round then the 4th and so on and so fourth.The higher number of rounds you can go the better is your preparation.

But do remember, it always takes max time to complete the syllabus. Once you have completed the syllabus, to again revise everything, requires very less time. So don’t get afraid that you will not have enough time. I saw ,by the time people came to 2nd round of revision, they needed just 4–5 days to revise entire syllabus.But while learning the subject itself, don’t rush through anything as it will harm you in the end.

6. Generally people start solving previous papers before 4 months but since you have only 5 months remaining, I suggest you start solving papers only 1 month before the exam and give 4 months for prep. Although people spend a lot of time in giving these mock tests, they do not fully utilize their time. The questions asked in the previous exams will not be repeated ever again. The motive behind giving mock exams is following:

try to find the pattern which helps them complete the paper fast. I used to do chemistry first, then physics and then maths(I found maths easier than physics so did that) and if used any other way, I couldn’t finish the question paper. While giving the mock exam, find out what pattern works for you. It is also important to remember that sometimes 1 section of paper can be very difficult, in such case don’t get nervous. Just skip few questions/the entire section and solve other sections and come back to these questions later.

try to improve accuracy and speed and also adopting to the exam atmosphere. On an average, if you score 50% you get a rank around 5k-8k. If you score 60% your rank is aroud 2k-3k. If you score 70% your rank is in 1k. If you score 75% you are around 400–500 and if you score 80% your rank is in top 100 (Although this stats very 4–5% depending on how tough the papers were). So before trying to improve your speed, improve your accuracy unbelievably high(>95%)so that even if you solve only 80% of the paper, you know you are in 1st 1000. Many people overlook this simple yet critical point. After you have increased your accuracy increase your speed while not letting accuracy significantly down. To improve the accuracy, I would suggest following, after giving a mock test, see the questions where your answer was incorrect and for try to find out the exact reason behind the incorrect answer (was it calculation mistake or you didn’t know the reaction or you didn’t read the problem carefully) and revise to improve on them.This post analysis helps improve your performance tremendously.

It cant be predicted try your best in the remaining time left for BITSAT.

Begin with the syllabus of class 12th. Make the list of all the topics of class 12th and start finishing one by one. Try maintaining the average 8 hours per chapter. Do not focus on the number of questions, focus on types of questions.

In BITSAT most questions are direct formula based, so maintain a copy where you pen down all the formulas and keep revising them on regular basis.Chemistry is highest scoring subject(a/c to me) so please go through NCERT in a proper manner. Remember every single reaction, every process etc mentioned in NCERT.

Once done with 12th, revise 11th throughly(I mentioned revision since you passed 11th class and you know most things about it. You have to recall them.) but try keeping average less than 8 hours per chapter, maybe 6.

Everyday select 50 questions of BITSAT level from Physics, Chemistry and Maths each and solve them in one go of three hours. Keep marking scheme as +3 for each correct answer and a negative one for each incorrect or left question. This kind of approach will build up your speed and will give you the motivation to attend full paper.

By Reading or preparing from NCERT books obviously you can score very well in BITSAT examination,because NCERT books cover almost of all the topics,concepts,formulas and imporant points which are far better than any other book for BITSAT preparation.

This book really helps you in scoring better marks in BITSAT examination.Go through NCERT books they are really better for your BITSAT examination.

If you want to score good marks in BITSAT you need to practice a lot. BITSAT is all about speed and time management. You can improve it by solving as many as mock test series for your practice.
