the cut offs change every year depending on various factors however generally the selection depends upon the JEE Main and JEE Advance cut offs, If You manage to qualify the exam by achieving the cut off, You can apply for JOSAA Counselling. It should be noted the cut off for EWS/SC/ST/FEMALES/OBC category is lower than the general category
If you manage to qualify JEE Main Cutoff, You would be eligible for JEE Advance which is the intake exam for IITs as mentioned above.
However It is usually advised to fill the choices as per the preference of colleges and departments, for example CSE in NIT Trichy is your priority followed by CSE in NIT Warangal, you can fill CSE at NIT Trichy at serial number 1 and CSE at NIT Warangal at serial number 2 and so on and so forth. However to get any NIT, you must have qualified JEE Mains and to get any IIT, you must have qualifies JEE Advanced
But the previous cut offs of colleges should be taken in consideration, it is better to research over the cut off of colleges then make a preference list of colleges and fill accordingly
For the college preferences and the courses provided by these colleges and to know which colleges participate in the JOSAA counselling, please go to the below mentioned link: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/josaa-participating-institutes/amp

.
For reservation categories you should get 80+ percentile score in nits.for general 95+ percentile score is enough to get in. Nit Colleges.
.
For top Nits you should get below 10000 rank as per previous years trends.so use this formula to predict the rank.
For jEE mains paper 1 exam use this formula to predict the rank:
- Rank Formula = (100 - your total score) X 874469 /100.
- Rank Formula = (100 - your total score) X 145386 /100.
For predicting the college use careers 360 website.
If you have any questions further let me know.
- Thank you!!!!
Hi dear,
The percentile will depend upon college, branch ,cast and state. For a general student to get a good NITs the percentile should be around 97 and above to get any branch if you want to get good branch then your percentile should be 99 and above, for obc the percentile should not differ much but if you are sc and st then a 92 or above percentile is enough for a NIT.
Thank you
You haven't mentioned your reservation category, so considering you has a general, you need to get atleast 70 - 80 percentile to get qualified for the jee mains exam.
And if you want to get into the NITs, then you need to score atleast 93 percentile.
Hope this could be help you
ALL THE BEST!!!
