The allotment of B.Tech seats in NITs is purely based on JEE Main score. In order to get an admission in top NIT's ,you will have to score above 98.5 percentile. On a safe side and if you are willing to get into top and branches in reputed NIT's ,then you need a 99 percentile. NIY warangal, Rourkela, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli stand at the top (information based on previous year placements, faculty, infrastructure etc).
Hope this helps
All the best !
Well that depends in many factors which I will name for you.
First of all, the stream which you want in the NIT. Percentile requirement would be so different for two branches say Computer Science and Engineering and on the other hand Material Science and Metallurgy.
Secondly, your category will play a vital role in deciding what percentile would be sufficient for you to get a seat.
Third, your home state quota will play some minute differences in the cut-off which are nonetheless quite important.
Lastly, your gender also makes a difference due to female quota.
Hence if you are general male candidate who wants a CSE seat in one of the top 10 NITs then you should atleast get 98 percentile and above.
You need to score minimum 99 %ile in JEE Mains to get admission in top NITs.
