How much questions in atma should be attempted right out of 180 to get pumba or welingkar..
Hi Akshita,
The expected cutoff for Welingkar is 95 for ATMA. You can attempt 100/180 questions to be on a safer side as one of my senior scored 97 percentile on attempting the same. Of course, your accuracy also matters. Essentially you need to score above 600 to get a percentile above 90.
Also, if you attempt questions more than 120, your chances of getting among the top rank holders increases. Hope I addressed your query. Let me know in case you need more clarifications.
Hello Akshita ,
In order to achieve admissions into the reputed colleges like Welingkar and Pumba , which are the top colleges you can get into with ATMA score , you have to make sure you attempt maximum number of right questions.
We know that the difficulty level of this exam as compared to the other national level management entrance exams is :
easy to moderate difficult
(except a few questions)
The exam pattern consists of 6 sections :
- Verbal skills 1
- Verbal skills 2
- Analytical Reasoning skills 1
- Analytical Reasoning skills 2
- Quatitative skills 1
- Quatitative skills 2
Each sections consists of 30 questions and has been alloted a time limit of 30 mins for each.
So in total there are 180 questions which need to be solved in 180 minutes ie 3 hours.
Marking scheme of the exam is such that you have 1 mark for each correct question , 1/4 mark is deducted for every wrong question.
So a candidate needs to be doubly sure before he/she marks their answers in the exam.
Because a candidate with 100 right answers and 40 wrong answers will score less than a candidate with 95 right answers and 6 wrong answers.
So one needs to keep in mind to minimize the number the wrong answers
So in order to find yourself in the among the top rankholders you have to work hard and prepare yourself to achieve maximum accuracy when solving the paper.
Dont go to exam keeping a number of question in mind that need to be solved and you might end up marking few questions wrong. Just make sure you prepare so well for the exams that you are able to mark all the right answers.
Also we should not forget that if we average the number and questions and the time alloted. We can roughly solve one question in one minute.
So for that you need to be thorough with your concepts and preparation.
Hence assuming you solve 20 questions on average in every section , with minimum no of wrong questions you will be able to achieve a good percentile of about 90+ with more than 100 right answers
So one should have command over the speed and accuracy both to achieve a good rank and score in such exams
