JAM(Joint Admission Test for Masters) is conducted every year for giving admission in various IITs or IISc. This year, the exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science. So, if you want to do it from a top institute like IISc, you must have to secure a rank between 1-35 for the general category. And to get a decent college, you must have to secure a rank under 200 but if you belong to reserved categories then your cut off will become almost half then it becomes a lot of easier task for you to crack this exam.

Every year, alternating institutes hold the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) for admission into Master of Scientific (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programmes at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Since 2004, JAM has been held. The Indian Institute of Science has conducted the 2021 exam.

Eligibility:-

A bachelor's degree will be required for JAM eligibility starting in 2022. To apply for the exam, there are no percentage requirements. Foreign candidates can also apply for the JAM Exam if they have a qualifying degree and meet the Admitting Institute's Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs), which must be submitted by September 30, 2022.

EXAM PATTERN:-

The exam will be taken on a computer. Mathematics, physics, chemistry, mathematical statistics, geology, biotechnology, and economics each have seven even papers. In 2020, biological science was dropped and economics was added in 2021. The examination lasts three hours and is solely given in English. It has 60 questions, which are listed below: 30 multiple choice (MCQ), 10 multiple select (MSQ), and 20 numerical answer type (NAT) questions The total score is 100, with 50 points for MCQs, 20 points for MSQs, and 30 points for the NAT.

So to take admission in top IITs and some good Colleges , you will have to get a rank under 200.

The question is not so difficult to answer but I'll try my best to solve your query.
First of all, you need to satisfy the minimum educational criteria i.e 55% in your Bachelors (50% for SC & ST).
Second thing to remember that "Your marks does not make a difference but the Rank does".
As we are divided in CATEGORIES so we have different gates to go through.
A direct answer would be "Get 50+ in IIT JAM then you are sure to get into IIT". Scoring 50+ implies your rank would float between 1-100 which is sure to get a seat in IIT.
While hoping for IISc, you need to make sure that your rank is below 40-45. IISc goes an extra mile to admit candidates by taking their interview.
