Recently UGC declared that only 6% of the total appearning students will be qualified for the Assistent Professor post in ugc net recognised universities . That means top 6% candidates should have to score minimum 40% (35% for reserved catagories) to be eligible for this post.

The score you need mainly depends on the subject in which you will be taking the exam.
For instance, if you are taking exam in commerce subject then ideally you require around 55% score for qualifying NET. This assumption is purely based on the cut off marks for the past 3 exams which are subjected to change anytime.
Basically what I mean here is that to get an idea of the marks that you need to secure check the cut off marks for at least 5 previous exams. This will give you an idea of the trend in your subject and accordingly you can plan your studies.

There are two types of Cut off in UGC NET - Categorywise qualifying cutoff to appear in the exam and subject-wise cutoff to qualify the entrance test. The category-wise cutoff is given below while subject-wise UGC NET cutoff will be released along with the result.

The subject-wise cutoff will be declared along with the result. We will provide here as soon as the results are out.

Categorywise Qualifying Marks to appear in the exam is given below:

Paper I - Out of 100 marks

Paper II - Out of 100 marks

Paper III - Out of 150 marks

GENERAL (General):

Paper I - 40 (40%)

Paper II - 40 (40%)

Paper III- 75 (50%)

Reserved (OBC Non-creamy layer, PWD/SC/ST and Transgender

Paper I - 35 (35%)

Paper II - 35 (35%)

Paper III - 60 (40%)
