Hello,
For getting seats into NITs for core branches you need to score more than 170+ in JEE mains for general category. For OBC, you need to score 140+ and for ST/ SC and PwD you need to score around 90+ to get seats into NITs. To be on the safe side, try to score atleast 130+ to get a seat in NITs irrespective of the branch.
Please visit this link for detailed cutoff for NITs https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff/amp&ved=2ahUKEwi-lOKn8rrqAhVnzjgGHeymBZ0QFjARegQICRAB&usg=AOvVaw0ay0p7xaI0Sc82xeEH0ED5&ampcf=1
For getting a seat into IITs , you need to get a rank within 11000. Beyond that, if you are from reservation category, you might get some seat.

Dear aspirant ,

In case you Jee- main your score will not matter. The thing that will matter is your Jee-Main percentile. So as to get a decent NIT you must score above 96 percentile so you can get a good branch too.

Lets come to Jee-Advanced, in order to be able to get into an good IIT you must have a AIR below 5000 which would be around 210 marks if the exam is of 360 marks. With AIR below 5000 you can get a good IIT with a decent branch.

Hope it helps .

First of all, to appear for JEE Adv., you need to clear the cutoff marks in JEE Main which are as follows:

  • CRL: 89.7548849+
  • Gen-EWS: 78.2174869
  • OBC-NCL: 74.3166557
  • SC: 54.0128155
  • ST: 44.3345172
  • PwD: 0.11371730

After clearing JEE Main, on the basis of JEE Adv.' marks, you may take admission into various NITs/IITs.

For IITs, you have to secure rank as high as 1 and as low as 11000. After 11000, you have nearly 0.01 percent chances of getting admission into IITs. However, if number of seats increases next year, you may get admission on some lower ranks also.

For JEE Main, if you want some good NIT, then you will have to secure rank at least 20k-25k. After that you may get admission, but chances of getting good branch at good NIT will be very less.

Hope it helps.

This data is for general category candidates. However, some reserved category candidates get admission on lower ranks also due to reservation.
