Hello Aspirant,

Hope your doing good!

Keeping all the points that we have mentioned in mind; the GRE preparation will take around 4 weeks to 20 weeks. If you include the mock tests that you would need to take , the preparation time can go from a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 24 weeks.

That’s a wide range, and it also doesn’t account for the different ways in which people prepare for the GRE. People may take practice tests, read up on the different exam sections, skim old notes from school, buy and read a GRE prep book,

Below are estimates of approximately how many hours you need to study in order to raise your score by a certain number of points. These numbers indicate how much you need to study to raise your GRE score by that many points across BOTH sections. So, in 40 hours, you could raise your score for each section by about  2.5 points (5 points total).

5 points = 40 hours

10 points = 80 hours

20 points = 160 hours

30 points = 240 hours

hope this helps, for more such queries ping us below!

Thankyou, Good luck for everything ahead :)

Hello Maitrabarun,

The time it will take for GRE preparation depends upon your current status with the GRE test content as well as the mode of study and time you devote for study in a day.

For the Quantitative Reasoning section, Indian students who have taken math in their 10 and 10+2 generally are clear with all the requisite concepts and only need to solve a few practice questions to understand the test pattern. This generally only takes 1-2 weeks of preparation.

The time taken for Verbal Reasoning is significantly longer. If you have a good grasp on vocabulary (i.e. if you've scored good on the Word Power Made Easy preliminary quiz) then you will generally need 2-3 months of preparation considering you devote 2-3 hours per day. On the other hand, if your grasp on vocabulary is lower, then you may need longer to prepare through self study.

The preparation for the Anlalytical Writing Analysis generally takes 1-2 weeks of at least 1-2 essays per day. Having a good grasp on English and vocabulary can speed up preparation for this section as well.

Apart from self study, there are many coaching options which provide GRE preparation in 2-3 months regardless of the candidate's status.

Hii

I will tell you one think about its not about time that counts when you write for an exam, its your knowledge & practice that counts. You will find many students who are studying for more than 12 months & still fall shy to get in the list & There are others too who will studied for 5 months & made to the list. Its depend on preparation, how are you preparing well its matters. Try to sove mock test as you can. Don't mug up any thing just understand the topics.

Need any help feel free to reply back. I will provide you the necessary info.

All the best.
