To become a model, you require an active mind and complete awareness about your strengths and weaknesses, in both the physical and mental aspects. No knowledge goes waste, hence, anybody with the talent and determination can become a model, even if you are a science student.
There are various types of models:
1. Fashion Model:These models are employed in the fashion magazines and editorials. They work for fashion designers and flaunt their designs
2. Runway models: These are the models that walk across the ramp doing the trained catwalk. They showcase the designer's clothing line. These models are required to have a specific phenotype, a specific height and size. Normally, a height of 5’9 is a pre-requisite.
3. Swimsuit and Lingerie Model: These models showcase swimsuits, nightwear or even lingerie.
4. Commercial Model: They are employed in catalogues, campaigns and commercials. There is no fixed physical appearance required for this type of modelling. Hence, it is more flexible in terms of its range.
To become a model in India, it is best advised to start with creating a portfolio. It is preferred to get the portfolio done by a fashion photographer. Eventually, get associated to an agency and show them the portfolio. There are also many freelance photographers that engage in collaborations with new budding models. This will expand your social circle and will also help you be aware of the recent developments in the industry.

Yes, there is a very good to became a model by pursuing the modelling c ourses from the particular institutions. There are some colleges in India who provides modelling courses.They are as follows:-

2) National school of drama, Delhi
3) Zee institute of media arts, Mumbai
4) Northeast Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
You have to prepare yourself for those colleges entrance tests with your boards.
