Below are 9 tips that will help you in jee mains preparations:

• 1. Only Read the Relevant Material, Do Not Waste your Time

There are far too many books on JEE in the market. Students try to solve coaching packages from many institutes, read the same topic from many different books, and then they get nowhere. Collect knowledge, not books. Do not pay attention to the extra baggage of books others use to show off.



Follow standard books, and get past year papers with a decent question bank. If you are in a coaching institute, solve their material. All of them are nearly the same.



Focus on the quality, rather than the quantity. Even if you solve 10000 questions, there will be a question that is new to you.

• 2. Practice with a Timer

I can solve all those questions at home when I practice, but can not solve them in the test. Ever had this feeling?



If yes, you are not timing yourself well. Practice in a mock exam environment. Always use a timer during your problem-solving sessions. This will help you build a comfort level with timed tests. You will learn to manage your time better.

• 3. Take Advantage of the Test Series

If you are in a coaching class, you probably already have this facility. But if you are doing self-study, enroll yourself in  a good test series. It helps you to judge your performance relative to others throughout the country and identify your weak and strong points.



Please attempt them with the same sincerity you will show in the actual exam. Prepare before taking these tests. Use these tests to help you boost your confidence before the real exam. If you are not serious during practice, the actual performance can not be good.

• 4. Follow NCERTs thoroughly. Get their Exemplar Problems books

This one deserves special mention. JEE Main is organized by CBSE. So, the exam certainly is based upon the content provided in these books. NCERTs are really really important! • 5. Use Effective revision techniques

Repetition is the key to longer retention. Keep revising your formulas and notes. Especially in Chemistry Section. Revision is an art. You do not read every page of the entire Chapter once again.



In your first attempt, mark the important sections and problems you werent able to solve. When you revise, attempt these first. Refer the theory only if you need it. Make your own notes. This helps to recall things easier.

• 6. Study with a Plan

One who is failing to plan, is planning to fail.



Since we plan anyway, why not plan our studies?



Have a monthly and weekly breakdown of the topics you want to cover. Try to follow this schedule. Stay ahead if you can. Without planning, lot of time is wasted on short chapters, and the lengthy ones are rushed. This leaves gaps in preparation. We do not want that.

• 7. Attempt Chemistry First

Okay, you may use your own judgment here. Based on past trends, Chemistry paper is the easiest and can be solved in about 30-40 minutes. You can use the saved time in solving the Physics and Maths section. Solving more questions at the start of the examination will also boost your confidence.

• 8. Relax and Do not Rush

The cooler your head is, the better you will perform. Often times we see a problem we have solved before, and quickly tick the answer. Only to find out we checked the wrong option. Even if you have seen the question before, avoid blind ticking. Solve it till the point you are sure of your choice. Plan well and you will have enough time.

• 9. Stay healthy. Eat good food

Yeah, this will help you fetch more marks. A fresh mind thinks better. Avoid Pizzas, burgers, and fatty foods for a few months. Such foods make you lazy. Eat healthy, stay healthy. You will study better and score more.
