Hello aspirant,
I suggest you to go for English Hons only if you have a keen interest in reading books. And by books I do not mean novels of Chetan Bhagat . If you can read heavy books and can handle the language of William Shakespeare , Geoffrey Chaucer and the like, you can go for English Hons. Also, if you have a knack for writing, it could be an option. One is often not sure about what course to pursue but knows his/her strengths and interests. Even if you are not into reading books in particular, but are interested in movies, music and popular culture, English Hons could be the course for you.
English Hons is a tough course . You dont just have to read the text but you have to do a research on the background of the text, the writer , the period during which the text was written. But , it is a very interesting course. You will get to learn a lot plus your communication in English will improve. You are going to face phonetics, literary terms, history of English literature. You will have to read Shakespeare, Geoffrey chaucer, William Langland etc. Simply you have to handle the literature and history. So you must be passionate about it.
All the best.
