How the dual degree is different from normal degree in BITS?Kindly give complete clarity.
Dear Tingari Mohammedshafi,
the Birla Institute of Technology which has campuses in Pilani, Hyderabad , Goa and Dubai, is a deemed -to be University. It offers the students the flexibilty of graduating with a dual degree. In BITS, Msc( Hons) students have the option to opt for a dual degree in BE (hons) as well. This means that at the end of 5 years you will end up with dual degrees in Science and Engineering. The stream of your BE (Hons ) degree will be decided by your preference and your cgpa in the first year. The first priority of opting for dual degree goes to the group B students (Msc.Hons students). It is also possible for group A (BE Hons students) and group B (students) to opt for a dual degree from group c( Msc Tech), the reverse is not normally possible. Therefore, all Msc students (Hons, not tech), will be alloted an assured BE (hons) degree, after completing their first year. The following are the B.E (Hons) courses that can be taken as a dual degree:
Pilani Campus:
B.E. (Hons.): Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical, Manufacturing.
Hyderabad Campus: § B.E. (Hons.): Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, Electrical and Electronics, Manufacturing, Mechanical.
Goa Campus: B.E. (Hons.): Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, and Mechanical.
The dual degree will enable you to go for research or apply for jobs, which demands either a science or a engineering degree.
The BE(Hons) and Msc(Tech ) are the normal degrees. The Msc(Tech) is offered in Engineering Technology, General Studies, finance and Information systems.
The dual degree means that you will have at the same time a technical as well as a Science degree, which will increase you rjob opportunities. The added advantage being that you can complete this in 5 years, whereas Msc(Tech) is completed in 4 years.
Thank You
