Hello aspirant,
B.Sc. in Nuclear Medicine Technology is a 3- year full- time course divided into 6 semesters, with each semester lasting a period of 6 months. The major objective of the course is to create skilled professionals who, in addition to demonstrating the requisite knowledge and skills required in Nuclear Medicine, are also trained in applying such knowledge and skills in the appropriate workplace context.Nuclear Medicine Technologists are professionals proficient in a range of generic and academic skills, having a broad integrated knowledge of health science. They are reflective practitioners working towards benefitting the community and society.
The curriculum facilitates a holistic development of the student in terms of offering professional skills in a clinical environment, which involves working with patients as part of the Health Care Team. Nuclear Medicine involves the use of radioactivity in the diagnosis and to a lesser extent, treatment of a number of diseases.
As a minimum criterion of eligibility, aspiring candidates need to have passed 10+2 or equivalent qualification from a recognized educational Board, with Physics, Chemistry and English with Biology or Mathematics as main subjects, and a minimum aggregate score of 50%
Admission to the course is based on the candidate’s performance at the 10+2 level. Candidates with Mathematics as one of the main subjects in 10+2 are given separate ranks based on the aggregate score in PCM in the merit list. In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the merit list, the inter-se merit of such candidates is determined respectively on the basis of scores in English and the aggregate score in the qualifying examinations.
