Merchant Navy is always considered a very exciting career because it is full of adventurous life. In Merchant Navy you need to a lot of travelling of all around the world. Merchant Navy is a commercial/private raft which deals with commodities transportation in all around the world. Nowadays, a large percentage of export and imports are migrating through the sea. Eligibility Criteria for Merchant Navy: For any top job position in Merchant Navy related to engineering fields, navigational officer candidates are required to follow courses, Bachelors degree course in Marine engineering or Nautical Science. The minimum required eligibility criterion for Merchant Navy is passed 12th from any recognized board with PCM as main subjects. Candidates should pass medical fitness test examination. Some other physical requirements, criteria include is eyesight should be 6/6 with no colour blindness affected. Candidate must be unmarried/single. These criteria are fixed for both female and male candidates.

You have also option to direct entry in the Merchant Navy. Direct entry to the Merchant Navy through following strategy:

Firstly, you can get a job as a Deck Cadet, if passed 12th class with PCM stream. B. Tech candidates, who have completed their degree in Electrical / Mechanical engineering, can get a job in the Merchant Navy as a post of Fifth Engineer/Junior Engineer/ Engine Cadet. Required to go through basic pre-sea training for those Candidates who have got a direct entry for deck cadets. Which is generally arranged by the recruiting company of the Merchant Navy. And candidates, who got a direct entry for jobs as an engineering cadet should do nine months long Pre-sea training in Marine Engineering from MERI College. Salary payment is one thing that you do not need to worry about in Merchant Navy jobs. Starting salary of a Navy employee is Rs 12k and could increase up to Rs 8 Lakh per month.
