Mpsc exam is conducted in three phases
1) preliminary exam -it is conducted to screen students for mains exam.
2) mains examination- on the basis of pre exam the candidate are shortlisted for mains exam .
3) interview - ater mains interview are conducted.
The marks obtained in mains and interview are used to prepare merit list. And on the basis of that and choice of candidate post are allocated to the top candidates.
Recently Mpsc has released the notifications for Mpsc exam ,the syllabus for which you can check on the official website.
You should start your preparation from basics. Firstly go through the books of history ,geography ,and science from class 5th -12
Then for further study select only 1-2 reference book for each subject.

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has published notification for Combined State Civil Services Exam 2020
The commission is inviting online applications for MPSC Combined State Civil Services Exam 2020. Eligible candidates can apply for MPSC Civil Service Exam 2020 on or before 13 January 2020 .
The exam will be conducted in two phases i.e. MPSC State Services 2020 Prelims Exam and MPSC State Services 2020 Mains Exam. The prelims exam will be held on 05 April 2020 and the mains exam on 02, 03 and 04 August 2020 .
A dedicated preparation time table will definitely increase the probability of success in any exam. Students should follow a pre planned time table and divide their study hours in different subjects and accordingly cover all the subjects and topics.
The detailed syllabus for MPSC Prelims is given below:
Paper I (200 marks)
- Current events of state, national and international importance.
- History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.
- Maharashtra, India and world geography – Physical, Social, Economic geography of Maharashtra, India and the World.
- Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights Issue, etc.
- Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialisation.
- General Science
Paper II (200 marks)
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision-making and problem-solving
- General mental ability
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level)
- Marathi and English language comprehension skills (Class X/XII level) Questions relating to this will be tested through passages from Marathi and English language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.
Mains-
Paper I – Marathi & English (Essay/Translation/Precis) – Descriptive Paper – 100 marks
Section 1: Marathi (50 marks)
- Essay writing – An essay on one out of the two given topics/subject (About 400 words)
- Translation – English paragraph to be translated into Marathi, approximately 1/2 page/2 paragraphs
- Precis writing
Section 2: English (50 marks)
- Essay writing – An essay on one out of the two given topics/subject (About 400 words)
- Translation – Marathi paragraph to be translated into English, approximately 1/2 page/2 paragraphs
- Precis writing
Paper II – Marathi & English (Grammar and Comprehension) – Objective – 100 marks
Section 1: Marathi (50 marks)
- Grammar – Idioms, Phrases, Synonyms/Antonyms, Correct formation of words and sentences, Punctuation, etc
