how to apply for NIT...?Can I apply for it now...?

To get admission in NITs one needs to write JEE Main examination. JEE Main is conducted by NTA twice every year, one in January and other in April (although on account of Covid19 pendemic this year April JEE Main had been postponed and is scheduled to be conducted from September 1 to 6). To get admission in NITs the following os the eligibility criteria required:
- The candidate has to obtain at least 75% or more than 75% in 10+2 board examination.
- Or he/she has to be in top 20 percentile list of the respective board.
After qualifying JEE Main examination the admission is undertaken through counselling. The counselling process is conducted by JoSAA in seven rounds. Here students have to fill their choices and they are allocated seat in NITs based on their CRL rank or category rank, whichever is applicable. After a seat has been allotted ba candidate has to three options:
- Slide
- Float
- Freeze
In case the candidate is satisfactory with allotted seat he has to confirm it by paying seat acceptance fee. Thereafter a candidate has to report to the alloted Institute for further admission process.

- Visit the JEE Mains website (For Indian Nationals), or SAT website (For Foreign / NRI)
- Register yourself, enter the mandatory details, upload the relevant documents (if any), complete the application form, pay the application fee, and submit.
- Download the admit card, and appear for the examination.
- After the declaration of results, visit the JOSAA website (For Indian Nationals) or DASA website (For Foreign / NRI).
- Register and fill-in the required details.
- Appear for the counselling, and select your preferred college and course.
The JEE Main form for NIT admissions was available till May 24, 2020.
