how to become a collector? what are the qualifications of collector?
Hello friend,
A collector is perhaps the most prestigious jobs in India.
To become a collector you initially have to appear in the civil service exam conducted by UPSC . Any Indian, Nepali, or Bhutanese with a graduation degree in any stream from an government recognized university can give that test. The graduation degree in any of streams arts, commerce, and science will work fine. What's more, your age ought to in the middle of between 20-30 years yet there are some relaxations for OBC and SC/ST category. For OBC candidates the age limit is 33 years and for SC/ST it is 35 years.
The next thing is qualifying a three-step exam conducted by UPSC. First, you have to clear the Prelims exam. Once the Prelim is cleared then you can appear in the Main exam. For prelim, two exams are conducted. One will be General Studies Paper I which will be of 200 marks and it will decide cut off. The other will be General Studies Paper-II (CSAT – Qualifying only). Now once you have cleared Prelims then you have to verify your documents on the UPSC website. The documents which you have to verify are 10th class certificate, category certificate (if any), graduation degree, etc. Then you have to sit in the Mains exam. To become a district collector you have to get top rank in the Mains exam. All the papers for the Mains exam will be of Subjective nature.
The final step in becoming a collector through civil service exam will be facing an interview. The interview will be of 275 marks and will be added in your final cut off. So either you score good in the written exams or prepare well for the interview.
There is one more way to become a district collector officer which is a through State Public Service Commission (SPSC). But through SPSC you will not directly become district collector, it will require subsequent promotions.
Hope this helps you!
Have a good day!!
