To become eligible for drug inspector candidates must have bachelors degree in Pharmacy. Drug inspector are appointed by state and central government departments for evaluation of safety, efficacy and quality of drugs. They are required by drug manufacturing units and pharma companies. The pay scale of drug inspector is Rs 9300-34800 with grade pay of Rs 4200.

- You need following to become drug inspector in India.
- Minimum bachlor’s degree in pharmacy medicine or microbiology.
- Minimum 18 months experience in manufacturing or analysis of schedule C drugs (antibiotics or parenteral products).

Drug inspector is the professional who is an expert and is qualified to monitor the safety,utility,efficiency quality of a drug from its manufacturing to its sale in the retail shop.To be eligible for becoming a drug inspector for most qualification is bachelor degree in pharmacy.For joining B.pharmacy or equivalent course one should be 12th pass with physics,chemistry and biology as main subjects.

1)patience,discipline,commitment to excel in their respective field and self - confidence.
2)capacity of performing tests to evaluate the potential compatibility of various salts.
3)updated with the things happening in pharmaceutical and other related tchnologies.
The steps to become a drug inspector are:
Step 1
Interested students have to appear in the entrance exam conducted by government and other pharmacy institutes for getting admission in B.pharma or D.pharma courses.The exam is objective type and deals with subjects like physics,chemistry and biology and it has negative marking too,so the exam is highly competetive.Separate tests are conducted by some of the highly rated medical institutions.This exam is also objective type and deals with subjects like english,physics,chemistry,biology and is held in the month of May-June and the pattern of the question may vary from test to test.The results of these exam are out by June/July.
Step 2
After completing this four year degree course one can even opt for M.pharmacy course.Again one has to give entrance exam like GPAT to do Master in Pharmacy to do specialization in one of the specific branch to study.
Step 3
After completing two years of M.Pharmacy,the interested candidate can appear for UPSC,staff selection comission or various state service selection brands to be selected as a drug inspector in state government enterprises.
The job requirements of drug inspector are :
1)to assist in evaluation of safety,efficacy and quality of drugs as per requirement of drugs and cosmetics act,1940.
2)to carry out field duty in assisting superior/drugs inspectors in taking out samples,enforcement activities like raids/inspections and launching prosecution etc.
3)to assist CDSCO officers in matters of monitoring documentation.
4)to carry out duties as may be assigned under the drugs and cosmetics act and rules framed there under.
In government sector the salary of drug inspector comes in the pay scale of rs 9300- 34800 with grade pay of rs 4200.However it may vary from state to state.As far as private sector is concerned a drug inspector can expect anywhere between rs 30000 to rs 40000 to start with depending upon the competence of the individual.
