A neuropsychologist is trained to assess and treat people who experience difficulties with memory, concentration, planning, language, reasoning , and other aspects of learning and understanding. Fatigue is another factor which can affect someone's psychology and ability to process information. Neuropsychology is concerned with relationships between the brain and behavior . Neuropsychologists conduct evaluations to characterize behavioral and cognitive changes resulting from central nervous system disease or injury, like Parkinson's disease or another movement disorder.

In order to be a neuropsychologist first it is needed to have doctoral degree in psychology. and one needs to possess a high level of education and experience. Some of the primary skills required in this field are

  • Monitoring and Awareness

Eligibility Criteria to Become A Neuropsychologist in India

Various institutes, colleges, and universities offer courses on neuropsychologist study.

For entrance to undergraduate level courses, you need to pass the class 12th examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the science stream and give the entrance examination of the respective college and universities.

Admissions to the postgraduate courses are based on the score of NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test). Every college follows the procedure for NEET exams.

Candidates are advised to check the college accreditation while selecting their college to pursue neuropsychology. Colleges with national or regional accreditation can be chosen for study as colleges with valid accreditation get more priority during the selection process. Many professional licenses and certifications need an accredited degree. Neuropsychology courses may opt for programmatic accreditation from boards like American Psychological Association as APA degree holders can earn a certificate or license or from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.

To become a neurophysoclogist you have to pass four steps. These four steps are:

Complete a degree : during this the undergraduates learn about neuroanatomy, brain behaviour disorders, psychological research. Pursuing an internship or work experience can help undergraduate to strengthen their skills.

Earn a graduate degree: some apply to master's degree before they apply for doctoral program which may help them to gain specialise training and gain admission to the competitive doctoral program.

Earn a state licensure : Before treating the patients the psychologist must have a licence to practice. Licensure process varies by state so one must go through all the license requirements in respective state.

Maintain certification : licensed psychologist must maintain their credentials. Many states set continuing requirements for licensure renewal. Professional organisation often provide continuing education opportunities for members.

Hello there

Firstly if I tell you what neuropsychologist do then they are those who study about memory loss, disabilities of learning and brain injuries from the perspective of psychology. They may specialize in the areas like paediatric brain disorders ,memory loss disorders and sports neuropsychology.

To become a neuropsychologist you must firstly do complete your degree and most Aspiring neuropsychologist usually do their major in psychology or something closely related field to it. After that you have to earn a graduate degree as neuropsychologist must hold doctorate related to apply for licensure. Thereafter earn a state licensure. Now finally maintain certification.

Hello,

So, to become a neuropsychologist,

1. You have to complete your bachelor's degree in psychology or any other related field.

2. Then, you can either do some internship to gain some experience or you can directly go to complete the master's degree in the course.

3. After completing graduation, you have to apply for a doctor's license.

4. Then you must also have some other certifications related to neuropsychology courses.

If you want to become a neurologist then first you have to complete your undergraduate medical studies and then go for post graduation or MD in neuropsychology as a surgeon or as a normal neuropsychologist. Some of the top colleges offering these courses are- AIIMS Delhi, manipal hospital and research centre, Index medical college, are some of them.
