Dear aspirant,

The process involved to become Psychology Professor is given below.

1. If you want to start teaching at University level then you should have completed Master's degree in Psychology. Also you should qualify in UGC NET entrance exam.

2. You can start teaching as Lecturer and then study Ph.D simultaneously so that you can become Professor. Only after completing Ph.D you can become Professor only Master's degree is not sufficient to become Professor.

3. You should have completed Bachelor's degree in Psychology with minimum 55 % marks from a recognised University or College and then Master's degree in Psychology and later Ph.D in Psychology to become Ph.D Professor.

4. After all these steps completion you can become Professor. You can even try for Profesor in government colleges.

Hope this helps you.

Hello,

You can apply for lectureship by qualifying UGC NET, irrespective of the ownership of the college/university this is mandatory if you want to teach in university level, moreover there is no direct recruitment of professor unless you hold relevant years of experience in the concerned field, so it's a long and consistent journey, in order to appear for UGC NET you need to pass master's degree in the relevant discipline with 55% aggregate, in case of reserved categories there is relaxation of 5%, so if you qualify the lectureship of UGC NET, then you may apply to colleges as per their vacancies, so you need to stay updated regarding this, moreover there is another option such as state level SET which is done for recruitment of assistant professors at state level, the eligibility criteria remains the same, the only difference is NET is conducted at national level and SET is conducted at state level, moreover there are various criteria which are imperative when it comes to selection of the post such as the relevant years of teaching experiences in the field, if you have been involved in any kind or research work or publication to your credit, so basically academics definitely hold great prominence since you will be teaching but having a strong profile in terms  of extra-curricular activities or being associated with any cause that you genuinely care about, these add much weightage and as I said your presentation, communication, knowledge skills when it comes to teaching, research works/publications etc, these are some of the major criteria that the panel look out for when it comes to shortlisting candidates.
