You may find that experience in other jobs will help you become a Weapons Engineer. In fact, many Weapons Engineer jobs need experience in a role such as Mechanical Engineer.

What you need to become a weapon designer-

a bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. advanced training in a subspecialty. research experience in mechanical or electrical engineering.
