Hi,
First of all : You need to have either of the two qualifications :
A degree in Mechanical engineering OR 10+2 PCM >60%.
Then you can either chose to be a officer in the deck dept or a engineer officer.
For deck department :
You need to undergo a 3 year nautical science course followed by 12 months of sea service. Post that you need to appear for MMD oral examinations to get your first license as a officer : Second mate of a foreign going ship. By the time you reach this stage you will know exactly how to proceed further.
For engine department : Procedure is similar to deck dept but the courses/duration may be different.
1.B.sc in nautical science( deck cadet )
2.marine engineering (engine cadet )
3.Diploma in nautical science for graduates
Aspirants should have studied physics , chemistry and maths in their 10+2 , with minimum 60 percent of marks
For an aspirant to be a deck cadet one should have 6/6 vision in both eyes .
All the best , hope it helps
