Election Commissioners are the members of Election commission of India that is responsible to conduct free and fair elections in India.
The election commissioners are generally retired IAS officers who have established a niche for themselves in their respective fields. They are persons of utmost importance. They are appointed by the president of India. It is a three member commission,including a chief commissioner of India and two additional commissioners. The Chief Election Commissioner can be removed by the parliament with a two-thirds majority in both loksabha and rajya Sabha on the grounds of peoves misbehaviour and incapacity. Other commissioners can be removed by the president of India on the recommendation of Chief Election Commissioner.
